Prime Time

With summer pretty much over and "the busy season" now upon us, you may be finding it difficult to keep track of all the important deadlines, changes to the law, and trends that could affect your financial plan. With that in mind, included here is a compilation of the most relevant ones rolled into one neat package.

Speaking of things that are past due... When I made financial planning for the pink-slipped the focus of my blog back in June, I never imagined that the topic would remain "in season" for so long. Unfortunately, the jobless rate continues to drift higher, albeit more slowly. With so many people still affected, an encore presentation of last month's Webinar on this topic seems to be in order. See below for details on that, plus an opportunity to discuss it live on Network for Work (TM) Radio.

Here's hoping this fall is the diametric opposite of last, and that the need to make "pink slip lemonade" soon follows sunburn, mosquito bites, high humidity, and other summer bummers into the sunset...

Talk to you soon!

"A penny saved is a penny earned." "Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship." "Certainty? In this world nothing is certain but death and taxes." Oh, that Ben Franklin was just chockfull of good financial advice, but his "time is money" was the inspiration for this article, a compilation of time-sensitive tidbits to help you make the most of your money.

An$wer of the Month: "Are your fees tax-deductible?"

Q: Are the fees we pay for your advice tax-deductible? -- C.B., NH

A: Yes, and so are certain other investment-related expenses. As with everything to do with tax laws, it's not 100% straightforward and there are limitations. You'll find a good overview of the rules in this article.
