With Consumer Debt At An All-Time High, Organizations Are Taking The Issue To The Streets of Manchester:

NAPFA Consumer Education Foundation, TD AMERITRADE Institutional and Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine join forces to deliver financial education during national bus tour stops in the Manchester area.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL (October 9, 2008) - New Hampshire residents are struggling to make ends meet right now. Fuel prices and home foreclosures continue to impact consumers throughout the state, and increasing reliance on credit cards and missing payments can cause significant financial difficulties.

In recognition of this growing problem, three financial industry leaders are taking the issue of debt and saving to the streets of Manchester during a national bus tour stop to deliver FREE financial advice from independent registered investment advisors and education to help consumers reverse these startling trends.

The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) Consumer Education Foundation, TD AMERITRADE Institutional and Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine are collaborating on the Your Money Bus Tour. Coming to Manchester on October 28, 2008, the Your Money Bus Tour will deliver the important message that it is never too late to start taking steps to prepare for a secure financial future.

During the stop in Manchester (flyer), Sherrill St. Germain, MBA, CFP®, principal of New Means Financial Planning, Hollis, NH, will be one of several volunteer financial advisors on-hand to conduct the following events:

  • 9:00 to 10:00 am - Meet and Greet at City Hall Plaza (One City Hall Plaza, Manchester).
  • 10:00 am to 3:00 pm - Free advice event at the Center of New Hampshire -- Radisson Hotel in Manchester (700 Elm Street in Manchester). Bring your financial questions and sit down and chat with a financial advisor to get your answers. Be sure to also pick-up a handy toolkit full of information on debt reduction and saving. Advisors will be in the Curriers Room on the first floor.
  • 6:30 to 8:30 pm - Symposium on "Understanding Debt, Saving and Your Financial Well-Being" at Southern New Hampshire University (2500 N. River Road in Manchester). The event is free and open to the public and will cover financial literacy, debt reduction and saving strategies. The symposium will be held in Mara Lecture Hall inside Webster Hall.

"The Your Money Bus Tour is a way for our organizations to reach out to consumers in Manchester and in other cities coast-to-coast to help them make better decisions for their futures," said Michael Joyce, CFA, CFP®, chairman of the NAPFA Consumer Education Foundation Board. "We hope everyone in Manchester has a chance to stop by the bus to get some free advice and pick-up some literature. We know they will be happy they did."
