Find the Means
to Break Away at
Career Change Corner!

A devotee of far too many interests (cycling, hiking, cross-country skiing, French language and culture, gardening, knitting, reading), Sherrill makes a concerted effort to live the life sheÍs envisioned. She is dedicated to helping her clients do the same.
Sherrill J. St. Germain, MBA, CFP®, is founder and principal of New Means Financial Planning, which was launched in 2003. In building and managing the firm, her guiding principle is to be the financial planner she always wanted to hire before becoming one; that is, one who:
  • gives clients the straight answers they need to make informed decisions that are aligned with their short and long term goals
  • develops recommendations based on solid experience, thorough analysis, and up-to-date knowledge in a continuously changing field,
  • is compensated in a clear, transparent manner that is free of conflict of interest.

Sherrill is a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor, a designation signifying that a financial planner adheres to the industry's most demanding practice requirements, including Fee-Only compensation, and meets the rigorous standards of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA.) She was the original Program Manager and Curriculum Designer for the NAPFA FOSTER Program, a virtual practice management training program for fee-only financial planners.  She continues to serve as instructor for the Business Planning module.

Sherrill is also a Certified Financial Planner™, having completed the final requirements for CFP® certification in February 2006. In order to maintain her NAPFA membership and CFP® certification, Sherrill is required to complete 60 hours of continuing education every two years.

Prior to becoming a financial planner, Sherrill enjoyed a successful career in software engineering, project management, and product marketing, gaining the analytical, organizational, and communication skills she needs as a financial planner.  Most recently, as Senior Product Manager at KANA Software in Manchester, NH, she oversaw the specification, development, and rollout of KANA’s next generation Web-based customer service software.

Sherrill volunteers her time tor the New Hampshire chapter of the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy, a non-profit dedicated to improving the personal financial literacy of young adults.  She is co-founder of New Girl Network, a southern NH-based women entrepreneurs’ networking group. She is also a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and the Women's Business Center, Inc., of Manchester, NH. Sherrill has been interviewed by the Nashua Telegraph, Hollis Times, NH Mirror for Women, Manchester's WMUR channel 9 and Nashua's WYCN TV-13. She has been quoted on her special area of interest -- financial planning for career changers -- in Kiplinger's Personal Finance, Financial Advisor magazine and Doctor's Digest, and her article Your Client's New Career was published in Financial Planning magazine.
